Full SaintéLyon course data: aid stations, cutoffs, course profile

Enter a goal SaintéLyon finish time and get estimated arrival times at every checkpoint from Saint-Étienne to Lyon - 80 km, around 1,963 m of climbing, run overnight from a 23:30 start, with the 2026 barrier at each station.

Turns every arrival into a clock time and every cutoff into a margin.

Terrain changes how the goal time is shared between segments, not the total. One surface everywhere cancels out.

Highlighted rows use a pace heuristic (>12 min/km / >19 min/mi) - likely hiking by speed, not grade. The grade-based power-hike cue is ≥15% (see GAP and Incline tools). Times are distributed proportionally by km-effort.

Leave by is the latest you can start the next segment and still make every cutoff ahead of you at this pace - often set by a station further on, not this one. It does not yet subtract the time you spend stopped, so treat it as the optimistic edge.

Cutoff buffers are estimates from your goal time and published barriers. Courses and barriers change - verify against the official race guide.

About SaintéLyon

SaintéLyon is an 80 km night trail from Saint-Étienne to Lyon, run since 1952 and now the largest night race in Europe with close to 8,000 starters in six or seven waves. The first wave leaves at 23:30 on the Saturday; the finish at the Halle Tony Garnier closes at 16:00 on the Sunday.

Plan the whole race in the dark. Most of the field runs from 23:30 until well after sunrise at about 08:00, and the coldest hours arrive between Sainte-Catherine and Le Camp, on the exposed crest at around 800 m. A plan that leaves you standing still at an aid station at 04:00 in a wet shirt is a plan that ends at Soucieu.

The course is net downhill, which is the trap. 1,963 m of climbing against 2,290 m of descent, so quads take more punishment than lungs. The long runnable descent from Chaponost into Lyon is where over-aggressive early pacing shows up - the last 15 km are almost all road and cycle path, and they are slower than they look on tired legs.

No crew, one bag. Assistance at aid stations is banned outright and tolerated only for elites in a marked zone, and the single bag you leave at the start is returned at the finish. Every checkpoint here is a self-sufficient resupply: water, food and a barrier time.

2026 barriers: KM17 Saint-Christo-en-Jarez 04:00, KM32 Sainte-Catherine 07:00, KM48 Le Camp-Saint-Genou 09:30, KM60 Soucieu-en-Jarrest 12:00, KM67 Chaponost 13:30, KM82 Lyon 16:00. The km marks are the organizer's own 2026 figures; the distances in the table are the measured 2025 course, which is republished each autumn.

Checkpoint distances and elevation come from the organizer's timing platform for the 2025 edition - verify against the official race guide at saintelyon.com once the 2026 course is published.
